On Sat., Oct. 28, the Marching Band had a competition at Wiregrass Ranch High School where they earned a Superior. They were second in their class and third overall out of 16 bands. Their next competition is this Sat., Nov. 4, at Gather High School.

There is a new name on the first place awards for Female Cross Country Runners. That name is a Riverview High School sophomore: Alyssa Hendrix. Last weekend at the Hillsborough County Championships, Hendrix finished on top. She triumphed over two-time State Cross Country Champion, Bailey Hertenstein. Although the Riverview High School boys’ and girls’ golf teams did not advance past Districts last week, RVHS senior Katelyn Gaztambide was able to pull through and qualify for the FHSAA Region Girls Golf Tournament. The Drama Department will be producing a Coffee House performance on Nov. 2-3 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Admission is free, but they will be taking donations. They will also be selling coffee and baked goods. A new bell schedule, for all Hillsborough County Public Schools, was decided on by the Hillsborough County School at its meeting last Tuesday. The new schedule will be implemented starting the 2018-2019 school year. Last Friday the Sharks blew out Strawberry Crest with a 34-0 win. The at-home victory was, “a good win” according to head coach William Mosel, “When you get teams who are good, yet beatable, you need to handle your business. Riverview Idol has found its 2018 winner, Logan Long. The show went great, according to RVHS Choral Director Elizabeth Stewart, adding that the panel of judges for the top five were great. On Oct. 14, the Riverview Marching Band had its second competition of the season at King High School, where it earned a 90.5. The Blue Coats placed first in their division and second overall out of 26 total bands. The Regiment also earned a superior rating in captions percussion, color guard, and drum major.
