Swim Meet Recap

The Riverview Swim Team has had its first three meets of the season. On September 10th, both the boys’ and girls’ teams competed against Eastbay and Bloomingdale. The boys team beat Eastbay 108-43, and lost to Bloomingdale 110-68. The girls team also beat Eastbay 97-63, and lost to Bloomingdale 125-50. One standout in the meet was Brian Gomez, who came in first place in the 50-meter freestyle event.

On the 17th of September, the team competed in a tri-meet against Newsome and Eastbay. The boys team beat Eastbay 91–42 and lost to Newsome 169-91. The girls team beat Eastbay 91-53, and lost to Newsome 153-91. In one particularly close event, the girls relay made up of Savannah Crone, Meghan Peoples, Correna Irvin, and Amanda Moore won the 400-meter freestyle by .02 seconds. When asked on the meet, Coach Munzing said it went well overall, and she was happy to see that there were so many spectators present.

Most recently on September 19th, there was a tri-meet where the boys’ team “blew everyone out of the water” according to coach Munzing. They beat Lennard 109-57, and Spoto 109-60 setting their season record at 4-2. The girls team beat Spoto 94-25 and lost closely to Lennard 96-94. Currently their season record is 3-3. Among other reasons to be hopeful, this year the team will have Zackary Nation doing the diving. Since Riverview has never had a diver before, he will be able to get points previously missed out on in future meets.
