Riverview Flag Football Against Robinsion

Last week Riverview’s varsity flag football team got the opportunity to play Robinson. both teams came into this game undefeated. However, Riverview was ranked first in state and Robinson was ranked second. Going into this game the Sharks had five shutouts in a row as well as 22 consecutive quarters without surrendering a touchdown. In the end, the Sharks lost 20-19, despite clinching the top seed in the upcoming district tournament.

In the game against Robinson, the Lady Sharks started off behind 13-0, but managed to tie right before halftime. Robinson scored late in the third quarter making the score 20-13. The Sharks scored halfway through the fourth quarter, however they missed the extra point which cost them the game.

Offensive Head Coach David Coffey says, “I’m very proud of the way our team competed. We could’ve easily quit playing but we battled and played hard for all 48 minutes. We learned lessons that will prepare our team for a championship run in May.”

Some stats from the game include Riverview posting 193 total yards of offense. Madyson Carrera threw the ball 35 times and completed 23 passes. She also threw for three touchdowns and had one interception. Tania Clark had five catches for 36 yards, she also scored a 23-yard TD as well as a one-yard TD. Faron Malouff had four catches for 63 yards and scored a 30-yard TD. On the defensive side of the ball they had Katie Muratti and Madyson Carrera who both had one interception. The next game is on April 11 at Armwood.
