Girls Win Two

The Riverview High School basketball team lost 46-29 to Newsome last week. Alexa Morel led them in scoring, with 13 points. She shot 3 for 7 on field goals and 7 for 9 on her free throws; having had two rebounds and a steal.

RVHS Head Girls Basketball Coach Gerard Batista stated, “We had great defense the first half and we kept our momentum going. Hopefully the team keeps up the great defense.”

Five days later they went on to beat Plant City 54-31. Olivia Zorilla led the scoring this game with 14 points. She shot 6 for 11 on field goals, was 2 for 3 on free throws, had an assist, four rebounds, and two steals. Batista said “She was really effective in the post and we had really good defense.”

So far the team has had a good defensive run and they hope to keep it up. They went on the next day to come out victorious against Blake, winning 44-28. This game was led in scoring by TaNia Clark who scored 20 points. She went 2 for 4 on 3-point shots, 5 for 11 on field goals, and 4 for 8 on free throws; adding four rebounds and five steals.

Batista mentioned that, “We pulled away in the second half and overall had great defense.”
